A mean
spirited newsletter from the Salt Shakers was sent out today. It was titled....
"MORE GOOD NEWS! Be
encouraged"
.....it reads (emphasis mine)..........
"Voters in North Carolina overwhelmingly support marriage between one man and
one woman. The referendum - North Carolina Amendment One - was passed yesterday.
Amendment
One goes beyond simply outlawing same-sex marriage, which was already illegal
in the state, and decrees that “marriage between one
man and one woman is the only domestic legal union that shall be valid or
recognized in this State” - meaning that civil unions and other types of
domestic partnerships will no longer be legally recognized.
Some common sense at last - the people
of North Carolina clearly realize what many Australians don't, that any form of
legal recognition means 'accepting' that same-sex relationships are 'normal and
healthy' - just not deserving of marriage.
About 61 percent of North Carolina
voters cast their ballot in favour of the amendment, and roughly 39 percent
voted against it.
Since 1998, 33 states have voted to
save marriage , they have won 32 times. In the one State that failed, a
heterosexual couple were used in the propaganda to support same-sex 'marriage'!
While the activists may claim 'equality', it is
clear that the majority of people in North Carolina still know that,
"The
worst form of inequality is to try to make unequal things equal".
(Aristotle)
We must continue to tell our
Australian politicians that truth, before they lead us along a path that will
be very, very, hard to turn back from".

AVB says:
Dear Peter
I am so glad that you
keep telling us all you are a Christian and that you are standing up for
Christian values because seeing your attitude and reading the words you say.....the
rest of us .......are finding it really hard to see any resemblance of
the person you claim to follow...... the compassionate Jesus Christ. You know the one we read about in the gospels who reached out mercifully to those that had been rejected by society.
You do however remind us of the harsh, legalistic, arrogant Pharisees who seemed obessed about telling everyone what they could and couldn't do and judging who was worthy or unworthy.
Interesting that a bible-believing Christian
like youself has suddenly taken to quoting the Greek philosopher Aristotle to prove your point. How strange.
Since you feel his words are full of wisdon and applicable to the current debate on marriage equality then here is another one of his.
"A tyrant must put on the
appearance of uncommon devotion to religion. Subjects are less apprehensive of
illegal treatment from a ruler whom they consider god-fearing and pious. On the
other hand, they do less easily move against him, believing that he has the
gods on his side." Aristotle
Here is a verse from the bible you might be more familiar with:
Let not any hateful words come out of your mouth, but whatever is good and useful for improvement that you may give grace to those who hear.
Ephesians 4:29
or
You're here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this
earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness?
You've lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.
Matthew 5:13
Scanning
through your site I do wonder what message a non-believer might get.
I doubt
it would be that God is a God of love. Most likely the message would be ......'Come to
Jesus and help us make Australia a 'righteous' nation by opposing everyone who
disagrees with us and making their lives as miserable as possible'.
